On Wednesday, February 17, we welcome zaji, another Stone Soup first timer.
zaji (pseudonym) is a published freelance writer and author. She earned her B.A. in English and M.S. in Journalism (magna cum laude) from Iona College, and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Goddard College. She published When We Were One, her first novel, which was reviewed and recommended by USA Today as a “must-read”; a book of poetry, Words…Loving Emotions; and “Lights on a Cave Wall” for the anthology Making the Hook-Up. She independently published her short stories, “The Letters,” “A Fine Day on Church Street,” and “They Came Like Us.” zaji is working on her second fiction novel as well as several short stories, and is penning a memoir, In the Space of Scattered Memories, which shares random snippets of her life as a Jamaican immigrant. Her micro fiction, “The Highway,” was published in Goddard College’s literary journal, The Pitkin Review. She also received honorable mention in Writer’s Relief’s First Annual Peter K. Hixson Memorial Scholarship award for short prose. When not writing, she can be found playing piano, acting, or steeped in philosophical discourse about the nature of existence.

Tzynya Pinchback is a poet, essayist, and author of “How to Make Pink Confetti” (Dancing Girl Press, 2012). Her recent work appears in Deaf Poets Society, Mom Egg Review, Naugatuck River Review, Raising Mothers, and is broadcasted on WOMR’s Poets Corner. She was a finalist for 2020 Poet Laureate of Plymouth, Massachusetts, and writer-in-residence for the Cordial Eye Gallery & Artist Space 2020 Joy Residency.

On Wednesday, February 4, we welcome back poet and battle rapper Skoot Mosby.
Skoot Mosby is a heavy hitting poet. As the Poetry Club president and the face of Roxbury Community College, he has created many successful events, such as No Filter, Man vs Police,” and What That Mouth Do. Skoot is taking the poetry world by storm with his freestyle abilities on the mic. Skoot has featured at Rapping With The Writers, Comic Con, Roxbury Rocks, Art is Life Itself, Hope Inc., Verbalization, Lizard Lounge, and Stone Soup. In a major addition to his features, Skoot has been a 3x Semi finalist National Slam Team. Skoot has also served as a member of the Compassionate Poets and an assistant facilitator for Writers Without Margins.

Wednesday, January 13,Stone Soup moves closer to its fiftieth year of
existence with poet and novelist Jon Wesick.
Jon Wesick is a regional editor of the San Diego Poetry Annual. He’s published hundreds of poems and stories in journals such as the Atlanta Review, Berkeley Fiction Review, Metal Scratches, Pearl, Slipstream, Space and Time, Tales of the Talisman, and Zahir. The editors of Knot Magazine nominated his stories “The Visitor” and “A Story for the Rest of Us” for Pushcart Prizes. His poem “Meditation Instruction” won the Editor’s Choice Award in the 2016 Spirit First Contest. Another poem “Bread and Circuses” won second place in the 2007 African American Writers and Artists Contest. “Richard Feynman’s Commute” shared third place in the 2017 Rhysling Award’s short poem category. Jon is the author of the poetry collections Words of Power, Dances of Freedom and A Foreigner Wherever I Go as well as several novels and short story collections. His most recent novel is The Enigma Brokers.

Wednesday, January 6,Stone Soup moves closer to its fiftieth year of existence with poet, novelist and publisher Mignon Ariel King.
Mignon Ariel King was born in Boston, Massachusetts and has never left her home time zone. An alumna of Simmons University, she worked for a decade as a database assistant by day (at a lot of companies that no artist cares to remember) and as an adjunct English instructor by night. In 2011, King created Hidden Charm Press; she founded Tell-Tale Chapbooks in 2013. Her blog is Making Books Rock, and her latest poetry collection is My Life As A Masque.

Writer, spoken word artist, and mentor Philip J. Curtis is a native of New York with roots in Jamaica West Indies, who arrived on the Colorado Springs poetry scene in 2006 bringing with him a brand of New York City straightforwardness and swag along with the sensual sun of Jamaica West Indies. Mr. Curtis established luvsaverb.com in 2007 combining his love for music with his poetic flow.
Philip aka Midnight is also an avid community steward. He has facilitated poetry workshops at various high schools, and colleges. He has supported non-profit organizations such as LifeWithoutLupos.org, TESSA, Finding Our Voices, CASA, and Art from Ashes. He is a founding member of Hear Here Poetry and in 2009 he established Poetry 719 on Facebook to foster and support the freedom of self-expression in spoken and written word through community connections, education, and poetic unity for all ages.

Tony Brown has been writing for over 50 years, and publishing and performing his work for over 40.
A seven-time Pushcart Prize and two-time Best Of The Net nominee, he has traveled the country, slammed for the Worcester Poets’ Asylum, and organized and hosted many readings and reading series.
