February 17: zaji Features at Stone Soup Poetry

 


Amidst the global pandemic, Stone Soup Poetry has been offering an online open mic via Zoom for anyone interested. This continues to receive an amazing response, and we appreciate everyone's participation.

On Wednesday, February 17, we welcome zaji, another Stone Soup first timer. 

zaji (pseudonym) is a published freelance writer and author. She earned her B.A. in English and M.S. in Journalism (magna cum laude) from Iona College, and her M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Goddard College. She published When We Were One, her first novel, which was reviewed and recommended by USA Today as a “must-read”; a book of poetry, Words…Loving Emotions; and “Lights on a Cave Wall” for the anthology Making the Hook-Up. She independently published her short stories, “The Letters,” “A Fine Day on Church Street,” and “They Came Like Us.” zaji is working on her second fiction novel as well as several short stories, and is penning a memoir, In the Space of Scattered Memories, which shares random snippets of her life as a Jamaican immigrant. Her micro fiction, “The Highway,” was published in Goddard College’s literary journal, The Pitkin Review. She also received honorable mention in Writer’s Relief’s First Annual Peter K. Hixson Memorial Scholarship award for short prose. When not writing, she can be found playing piano, acting, or steeped in philosophical discourse about the nature of existence.
