Tzynya Pinchback writes the Black woman body in illness, in nature, and joy as a deliberate act. She was awarded a 2024 PEN America Emerging Voices fellowship for her in-progress cancer memoir, and has current work in Foodstories Project: Intersections Between Food, Memory, Identity, and Our Stories, and Folsom State Prison library project. She is the 2025-2026 Writing the Land poet in residence at D.W. Field Park—an initiative to increase community access to conserved lands—and lives in an impossibly small house on a pond in Massachusetts where she paints fairy houses and dreams of one day writing a villanelle.
